5. Post-Burn Ecological Monitoring Protocols (FIRE5)


Description

Audience: Burn crew members, land managers, volunteers, and resource agency staff 

Provides hands-on instruction in basic post-burn biological response monitoring methods including vegetation recovery transects, photo point documentation, wildlife recolonization indicators, and data recording standards. Participants will learn how monitoring data is used to evaluate burn effectiveness, meet reporting requirements for regulatory agencies, and inform adaptive management for future burn cycles. Includes guidance on how to structure a monitoring plan that satisfies CEQA mitigation monitoring requirements when applicable, and how to organize data for submission to land management agencies.
