Covers nesting bird survey protocols applicable to Santa Clara County habitats, identification of special-status plants and wildlife likely to occur in South Bay burn units, and practical decision-making for when to trigger pre-activity protocol surveys versus relying on established avoidance buffers. Participants will leave with a working understanding of the survey types, timing windows, and qualified biologist thresholds that govern burn plan preparation.
